This hands-on skills training prepares you to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, youth, and infants. It also teaches the skills and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). These practices require strenuous activity. If you have a medical condition or disability that might prevent you from taking part in the practice sessions, or if you have any questions at all about your ability to participate fully in the course, you should discuss it with your health care provider before you start the course.
Upon successful completion of the American Red Cross course, you will receive a certificate via email approximately 1 week after the last day of the course. The certification is valid for two years.
Books and materials will be available to you during the class but you will not be allowed to take them home. However, free online versions of all materials are available to you at the following websites:
Refunds or transferring to other classes are not allowed when the course is less than 72 working hours in advance and will result in a $15 administrative fee.

Students, faculty, and staff of Texas State are required to register their vehicle with Parking Services, and properly display the permit anytime the vehicle is parked on campus. If you do not have a permit and/or are not a Texas State affiliate you need to park at Speck Garage. Speck Garage has a pay and display machine which will issue a permit that is good from the time you purchase it until midnight that same day. It takes debit or credit and it will cost $5.
